Septic Systems: Effluent Line

he watertight pipeline that drains the septic tank effluent to the disposal field is called the effluent line.  Most installers use 4" SDR 35 pipe.   Many disposal fields are gravity fed, but when the disposal area is at a higher elevation than the septic tank, pumping is required.  (See Dosing tanks.)
